A 25-year-old woman has approached Delhi Police and alleged that her husband and his relatives had created fake profiles of hers on social networking sites passing her off as a hustler and uploading her phone numbers as well. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch has filed an FIR and is probing the case.
The victim, in her complaint, told police she was estranged from her husband, Deepak Yadav, recently and presently lived with her parents in Uttam Nagar. “She told police that the accused has been stalking her after they separated and made her life even more miserable after creating her fake profile on Facebook with her pictures displayed and circulating them amongst her friends with abusive messages,” a senior police officer said, adding that the victim has alleged that the accused has not only listed her phone number on the profile, but her father’s number has been listed as well.
The complainant said that she started receiving calls from unknown numbers in August inquiring whether she was a prostitute. After enquiry, she found that her number had been posted on a fraudulent Facebook profile on which her father’s number has been listed as her pimp.
