A 24-year-old accountant, who jumped out of moving vehicle to escape from the clutches of molesters, was lying in pool of blood. She was semi-conscious. Her left leg was bleeding profusely. Some passersby gathered but no one could come forward to help her and take her to a hospital. She requesting them to help her but all appeal seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
It was only when Ravinder Rathi, one Good Samaritan, reached the spot, she was taken to hospital.
Rathi, a practicing advocate at the Rohini court called her family and helped them to take the girl to a nearby hospital. Narrating the whole incident, Rathi said after the December 16 gang-rape incident, we protested and did everything to express our anger but still nobody came forward to help the girl who was in dire need. “Delhi still have to learn a lot. These protest or campaign will be of no use till we learn to help people. The girl was crying with the pain and requesting to take her to hospital. She was lying in pool of blood and narrating the incident to the people. More than 100 people were present there; even they were in their vehicles but did not come to help,” he said.
Rathi, a resident of Sultanpuri area, was returning home from his office at night. “I was on the way and passing through Prem Nagar area in Nangloi, I saw, people running toward Baldeva Public School, where a huge crowd has gathered. I also took U turn and reached there. I saw, a woman lay in pool of blood was crying with the pain and requesting for help. She was semi-conscious. I asked her to number of her relative. She gave her brother’s cell number then I informed her younger brother. And with his brother and mother, we took her to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. She was suffering with the pain as her left foot was crushed. No PCR call has been made before I reached there and picked up the injured woman and rushed to the hospital.”
