Not willing to take any chances with their admission in the Delhi University, the aspirants are filling the applications in both offline and online mode. Students belonging to other States like Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Haryana etc visited different admission centres of South Campus of Delhi University (DU) to clarify their doubts related to admissions. Though some of the aspirants have filled out their applications online, but to make sure that their registration is confirmed, they especially visited the centres to collect the OMR application form.

On Sunday — the 11th day of online registrations — a total of 2,57,421 applications have been registered, out of which 1,59,036 have made the payment. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur (SGTB) Khalsa College has received 1,649 OMR applications, the highest among eight centres of DU. The total number of applications received in eight centres is 5,828 while 9,909 forms have been sold. “I have registered my online application but I do not want to take any risk. The purpose to come here is to fill and submit the application form in person,” said Sameera Bakshi, an aspirant from Chandigarh.

To study in Delhi University has become the dream destination for the students. The increasing number of online registrations is giving the hint to the DU administration about the competition. In such a situation, aspirants who are not equipped with Internet at their home towns came with complaints too. These aspirants belong to the rural belt of the country where they don’t have trouble-free Internet access.

“We have to come out from home to access the Internet. The Internet cafés are much far. Secondly, to fill the application form, we have to sit long in the café because most of the time, server is busy,” said another aspirant who came to PGDAV College, Delhi from Greater Noida. DU is giving sufficient time to fill the application online, according to DU officials. The last date to submit the online application form is 15 June. JM Khurana, Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), Delhi University is advising the aspirants to fill online application forms after office hours.

“We are advising the aspirants to fill their applications after office hours. Maximum people access the internet in office hours. The Internet traffic is quite low in the evening. So we advise the students to apply after 5 pm for hassle-free registration,” said Khurana. Beating the deadly heat of Delhi, aspirants stood in long queues at centers and many of them submitted their OMR application sheets on the same day. Many of the aspirants will stay put in Delhi to wait for the first cutoff list, while some of them went back to their respective homes after the submission of applications.
