House to discuss burning issues from today

The Arvind Kejriwal Government has called for a two-day Assembly session beginning from June 9 to discuss the financial conditions of the three Municipal Corporations and the state of cleanliness in the city.

The issue would be debated during short duration discussion. AAP MlAs Nitin Tyagi, Alka lamba and Bhawna Gaur will initiate discussion on alleged corruption and maladministration in the corporations. The copy of annual report of DSIIDC for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15 would also be tabled in the House by Industries Minister Satyendra Jain.

Sources, however, said the session would also encompass talks on election to the Deputy Speaker’s post. After AAP MlA Bandana Kumari resigned from her post on May 28, the party leadership has shortlisted Rakhi Birla as their choice to fill the post.

There were complaints that Kumari and her husband had worked against the AAP candidate in the municipal bypolls in the Shalimar Bagh constituency.

Sources added that the full-Statehood Bill was likely to be taken up during the meet and might be brought in through a Private Member Bill.
