House poor no more

In order to ensure proper allocation of the designated 10 per cent property quota —announced by the UP Government — for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and low Income Group (lIG) categories, the construction progress of private builders will be readily monitored now. Following the allegations by municipal councillor Rajendra Tyagi — regarding the discrepancies in the constructed units to exploit the Government’s welfare scheme — GDA secretary RM Godbole has now planned to physically verify the progress of the construction frequently.

“Till the recently-held auction of 5,000 units to ESW and lIG categories, the verification was done in 2013 and the next verification would be conducted only by the end of this year,” he said. Regarding the rising cases of land grabbing by relatively affluent classes, the secretary claimed it was being screened before issuance of next stage allotment

letter. “The process is stepwise and foolproof- from auction, screening, verification by department concerned till finally the allotment letter is issued. The authority takes all precautionary steps before issuing the allotment letter,” he said.

However, Godbole added that the violators would be dealt with accordingly and the letters for filing FIRs would be sent to the department concerned if fake or otherwise certificates are found enclosed with the applications.
