Police on Thursday apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile steering an e-rickshaw that hit a woman and her babe in arms in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri on Wednesday. The rickshaw was hypothecated to the juvenile’s stepfather Nadeem. Oddly enough, the juvenile has a rap sheet — he was also an accused in a rape case in East district last year.
As soon as Nadeem and his stepson hightailed it, police teams formed to smoke them out of their hiding located them in Trilokpuri. Police are now looking out for the accused confectionery shop owner Jagdish who had encroached the area and had placed flammable items along side the road.
Meanwhile, DCP East district Ajay Kumar said they have booked Jagdish under Sections 283/285 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Two-year-old Dev had fallen into a boiling cauldron of sugar syrup in Jagdish’s sweet shop and was scalded to death as his mother Pinky lost her grip on him when she was hit by the juvenile’s e-rickshaw on Tuesday evening. Jagdish is said to be missing from his residence and teams have been sent to hunt him down, the DCP added.
