His life was falling apart at the seams

Family members of Sankalp Anand have still not coped with their loss. The family refuses to believe that their son and his wife are no more. Their only worry now is the future of the seven-year-old child who had miraculously escaped death by a whisker. Anand was a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and was also posted as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Kota.

In his 10-page suicide note recovered from his car near the railway tracks, he mentions that this extreme step is followed by his wrongdoing and the crimes of others. He stated that the whole episode started in 2012, when his perfectly normal life started falling apart at the seams.

In his letter, he has named two senior IPS officers — Kamlendra Prasad, Sandeep Mittal — and blamed them for spearheading a construction project scam worth Rs250 crore. He writes, “On the basis of some mistakes I looked into the matter and a Gurgaon-based company came forward. They were asked to pay one per cent as advance, which was Rs15 lakh, and I gave the same amount to Sandeep Mittal. He asked me to go ahead with the project and take the balance amount. At that time all these people were knowingly not clearing my probation despite my three years of service.”

The suicide note also contains explosive details about the rampant corruption at the forensic science institute in Rohini. Sankalp Anand had named several senior officials and has also mentioned the details and mobile phone numbers of the respective persons. The Pioneer is in possession of the suicide note, which paints a sorry picture of the prevailing situations in the Government of India

controlled forensic institute.
