A 37-year-old woman was shot dead in front of her son allegedly by a juvenile contract killer in South-West Delhi’s Najafgarh area on Tuesday morning. The woman is identified as Madhu Saini, who was living at her parents’ house.

The juvenile was hired by the woman’s brother, Sunny, and was paid some money in advance. The police have apprehended the accused.

Investigators have learnt that the woman’s brother was unhappy as she had been staying at his house with her two sons after separating from her husband. Her brother, Pradeep, alias Sunny, had an apprehension that she would grab his property if not made to shift. The two often fought and argued over the same issue in the past.

On Tuesday at around 8.45 am, Madhu was home with her eldest son Aakash, 15, when a youth entered their house. He went to Madhu’s room and pumped a bullet into her head from close range. Aakash, who was present in the room, raised an alarm and tried to overpower the attacker. The juvenile, however, managed to flee the crime scene after injuring Aakash.

Neighbours came to the house after hearing Aakash’s screams and informed the police. Madhu was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Based on the attacker’s physical description provided by Aakash, police nabbed the assailant and a case of murder has been registered. During interview, the juvenile spilled the beans on Sunny and claimed to have been hired by him for killing his sister. Efforts were on to nab Sunny who has been staying out of the city after an externment order for allegedly involving in antisocial activities, a senior cop said.
