High security Kaka Nagar a high risk

Published on:

The security apparatus at Kaka Nagar area where a senior Government of India official K Vijay Kumar and his wife Sita were killed has come under question with the latest incident. Kaka Nagar and its adjoining colony Bapa Nagar across the road is where the who’s who of Indian bureaucracy resides.

On earlier occasions, burglars had gained access to the house of the then Union Petroleum Secretary P Shankar and robbed his house after gagging his wife in Kaka Nagar. Even the residence of Dharmendra Kumar, who is currently posted as Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), was burgled a few years back when he lived in Bapa Nagar. If that was not enough, the houses of several other police officers at Pandara Road too were targeted by enterprising thieves. The topography of the area is such that it provides unhindered access to all and sundry. It may also be recalled that bureaucrat Kumar Yashkar and his wife were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their house in the upscale Hudco in South Delhi. Yashkar belonged to the Indian Defence and Accounts services.

Meanwhile, police sources said decoding the murder mystery of Vijay Kumar and his wife might prove to be a hard nut to crack for Delhi Police. Police have found no suicide note, no circumstantial evidence and even no signs of the house being ransacked. The killers had a friendly entry to the residence. As neighbours claimed, the family was living in this accommodation for the last couple of years but they could hardly be seen interacting with others.

The needle of suspicion also points towards their maid who, neighbours claimed, had joined just a few days ago. The neighbours claimed that the house is rigged with CCTV cameras. “There are cameras all over the house. The couple was not very social and rarely interacted,” said a neighbour. Police will scan CCTV footage and question the servants regarding the incident.
