For hapless parents who are exploited by the managements of unaided private schools, the Delhi Government has outlined a special system for grievance redressal.
Apart from the nursery helpline number which is expected to open within four days, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia has deputed senior officials to whom parents can register complaints. The officers will have to respond to them within three days after which, if not resolved, the matter will be taken up by Sisodia and his immediate team.
The group will comprise nodal officers responsible for resolving problems faced by parents and children. The team will be active not only during admission time but also throughout the entire academic session. In order to ensure swift action, Sisodia has opted to keep the system time bound wherein the officers will be given three days time to respond to the issues. If the matter remains unresolved, parents can directly communicate to the Minister and his other officials for seeking redressal.
“Every school will have several display boards in which names and numbers of the concerned officials will be mentioned. Since the beginning I have been asking my officers to listen to people’s problems. If the problems faced by them are still not heard then I am always there for them. I have assumed office for the people only,” said Sisodia.
When asked about other measures being taken to ease the otherwise troublesome admission process, he said, “We are planning to ensure hassle-free nursery admissions. All these will be rolled out before nursery classes begin from January 15.”
