Delhi University is welcoming aspiring female entrepreneurs, including home makers, to share their ideas and get support in form of training and resourcing to turn their dreams a reality.

A week long training “Skill Enhancement Programme” would be organised by the Cluster Innovation Centre: Centre for Science Education and Innovation in mid October (from 11 to 16) where experts from industries and corporate companies would train the selected candidates to take their ventures forward. This is the second stint of such training by the centre. Earlier it was carried only for the students.

“We are expecting more funds this time...if they women are able to come up with good business venture ideas, it would be a great opportunity. We have 30 seats and  only the candidates with best ideas and vision for supporting these ideas would be selected,” Coordinator and Deputy Dean of DU Research Council, Dr Deepika Bhaskar told The Pioneer.

The centre has already got on board “industrialists and venture capitalists” to be a part of this initiative.

The varsity is also in the course of applying for funding from the Government, Bhaskar said.

“The programme has been designed with the objective of developing insights on navigating the innovation process from idea generation to commercialization. It aims at building skills and knowledge on how to create strategies to bring innovations to market. It also proposes to develop an innovation portfolio and business model canvas for their future venture,” Bhaskar added. The traning would be held through lectures, practical sessions, industrial visits and assignments.

“After the training, they will have to submit on how their venture has matured. On basis of that, the experts involved can come forward to fund them.”

The centre had organised a similar training programme on for students in June for a period of three weeks. Owing to the success, they are also planning to do a similar programme in December and March.
