Delhi Police has also started probing the murder of Rakhi, employed at the Delhi house of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Dhananjay Singh with a human trafficking angle. They are looking for a person, Dev Kumar, who brought Rakhi, and another maid Meena, from West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, around a year ago to Delhi. Meanwhile, a panel of three doctors will conduct the post-mortem examination on Rakhi’s body at Delhi’s lady Hardinge Hospital on Friday.

Dev was earlier employed with a South Delhi-based placement agency. later, though the agency shut shop, he continued his work. “Dev’s cell phone location has been traced to Kolkata and a team of Delhi Police has also been sent to search for Dev,” the officer added. Rakhi was brought to Delhi by Dev, who promised her good money and a decent job. She used to live with her son after her husband passed away.

Shehzan Khan (25), Rakhi’s son said that he never thought his mother was being so brutally tortured by her employer. “Around three months ago, I spoke to her but she did not say anything about the assault to me. Both of Rakhi’s phones were with Jagriti and she did not let her speak to her family in 24 Parganas,” he added.

The accused Jagriti claimed that she used to pay her employees every month but police investigation revealed that no money was being transferred to Rakhi’s account in Kolkata. Sources said that BSP MP Dhananjay Singh and his wife Jagriti are getting VIP treatment in police custody. Dhananjay Singh has been given the restroom of a sub-inspector, while his wife is kept in the restroom of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (Chankyapuri sub-division). They are getting lunch from home but breakfast and dinner is served from the police canteen.
