A 54-year-old woman, working with the Child Development and Woman Affairs Ministry as an Upper Divisional Clerk, was attacked by her former domestic help. The maid hit her with a sharp weapon when she resisted a robbery attempt, police said on Sunday. The accused has been arrested.
The victim, Kamaljeet Kaur, was attacked by the charwoman, identified as Sunita, on Saturday evening inside her house in North Delhi’s Sector 3 Rohini area. Kaur, who lives alone in her two-storey house, told police that Sunita worked for her around five years ago.
“Sunita came to Kaur’s house on Saturday evening to discuss some work and demand old clothes. When Kaur was busy finding old clothes, Sunita tried to steal some valuables. When Kaur objected, Sunita attacked her with a sharp object,” said a police officer, referring to Kaur’s statement. Kaur raised an alarm and caught the accused with a neighbour’s help. Sunita was later handed over to police, said the officer.
“Kaur was rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition is stated to be stable. She received injuries to her neck. The accused has been booked under attempt to murder and theft at Rohini (North) Police Station,” said the officer.
