Heavy vehicles banned from Yamuna E-way during F1

In order to ease traffic movement in Greater Noida during the three-day Formula One Grand Prix starting October 25, the Noida police have decided to ban entry of heavy vehicles on the Yamuna Expressway and other stretches of the region. Police officials said that the move will help scores of visitors, including foreigners, reach Buddh Circuit International (BIC) without any hassle.

According to a senior police official, vehicles like trucks, buses and canters from neighbouring Aligarh district and other parts of Western Uttar Pradesh, would not be allowed to enter Greater Noida on these three days. These vehicles would be stopped at Jewar toll plaza and will be asked to reach their destination via Sikandrabad, which connects Dadri-Surajpur-Chalera (DSC) Road. Heavy vehicles from the national Capital, Palwal, Faridabad and Gurgaon too would be diverted from Mahamaya flyover to DSC.

“During the event, thousands of visitors are expected to use the e-way and other key routes of the city to reach the venue. By restricting these vehicles from entering the city, we will be able to ensure smooth vehicular movement to a certain extent. We are also planning to restrict such vehicles on the DND flyway as vehicular volume will also appear on the carriageway during the days of Formula One race that could create a traffic mess on the flyway,” said MP Singh, Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Noida.

On the other hand, the event organiser has roped in Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, for medical care. Should a racer get injured, he would be airlifted to the hospital. “There will also be a team of 73 doctors and technicians on call,” said the SP.
