A Delhi Police head constable’s son was arrested for allegedly physically assaulting two traffic policemen in Outer Delhi's Rohini area on late Sunday night, after the traffic police head constable stopped the accused, who was in inebriated state, for driving on the wrong side. Police said a local has the incident recorded on his mobile phone.
According to a senior police official, on Sunday night two traffic policemen Satbir Singh and Hoti lal were out on night patrolling duty in Rohini area when at 12.15 am they witnessed a Maruti Swift car coming from wrong side. The traffic policemen signaled the car driver to stop. When the policemen asked the driver to show papers of the car, it angered him and his friend who then started allegedly abusing him and also attacked the two policemen.
“They said the rules did not apply to them. When I insisted that they pay the fine, they began hurling abuses at me. By then Hoti lal, who was some distance away, came over to where I was. They began abusing him as well,” said Satbir.
“The driver and his friend came out of the car and attacked on us. They even chewed on a finger of Hoti lal's right hand. One of them got the helmet from our parked bike and smashed it on my head. We both started bleeding profusely. Several locals also gathered on the spot on seeing the scuffle. With the help of locals we have managed to nab of the attackers who was identified as Hemant while his friend Nitin managed to fled from the spot,” added Satbir.
Police said a case was registered against the two accused on charges of physical assault and stopping a public servant from discharging his duty.
The arrested accused is a resident of Budh Vihar in Rohini. His father works with Delhi police as a head constable, who is posted with police training unit.
