Taking a serious note of the recent gang rape case in Mandpura village in Pataudi, a team from the Haryana Commission for Women (HCW) will visit the spot on Friday and meet the victims. The HCW members will also ask for the inquiry report from the police and also check the security arrangements for the two victims who were sexually assaulted on January 28.

“We will visit the incident place and meet the victims and their family members and will also give them moral support. We will write a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram (DC) for financial support to the survivor family,” HCW vice-president Suman Dahiya said.

“We have informed the local police and the investigation team. They will also revisit the incident spot with us,” she added.

Meanwhile, DCP (south) Ashok Bakshi asserted that the Haryana police has launched an intense search for the culprits in the neighbouring States. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now coordinating with four States, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to nab the culprits,” the DCP said.

The Gurugram police are not taking any risks and have deployed police personnel for security of the victims. “We have formed an SIT to investigate the incident, the team is also collecting details of similar incidents in adjoining States,” Gurugram police spokesperson Manish Sehgal said.

It may be recalled that on the night of January 28, around eight armed men had entered the poultry farm adjacent to an iron factory in Mandpura village in Padaudi and gang raped two women for around four hours.

Five men, including their husbands, were taken a hostage at gunpoint, and silver jewellery and over Rs40,000 in cash were stolen by the eight assailants. The crime spot is around 30 kilometres from Gurugram city.

The rape survivors’ medical examinations revealed that both the women were pregnant at the time. The women, aged 19 and 20, are reportedly three and five months pregnant and doctors told the women that everything was “normal”.

Sources said the victims hail from Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. They are now planning to return to their respective hometowns after the brutality that was inflicted upon them by the dacoits.

During the four hours, the assailants were at the incident spot; they cooked and ate chicken belonging to the farm.

There is a possibility that the eight robbers came and left the area by train as there is no mark of any vehicle and no one heard any noise of any vehicle, the police said.
