Harsh Vardhan's squeaky clean mien to mop up competition?

Published on:

Amid speculations of Union Minister Harsh Vardhan’s return to Delhi politics ahead of Assembly polls after he was relieved from the Health Ministry on Sunday, sources within the party have, however, suggested that his comeback is ‘unlikely’ in the national Capital.

The MP from Chandni Chowk and former Delhi BJP chief shall remain as a part of the Central Government and will not return to State politics. Besides, going ahead with the process of candidate selection for the upcoming elections, the Central

leaders, on Monday, sought a detailed report on the status of MlA local Area Development (MlAlAD) funds of the party’s MlAs in the city.

Sources said that Vardhan was removed from Health Ministry because of “various other reasons” and not to make space for him to return to Delhi politics. It is also pointed that he courted controversy for the removal of AIIMS chief vigilance officer, besides being seen taking various national and foreign trips. “If he returns, winning a Muslim-dominated Chandni Chowk seat again in byelection would not an easy job. The young leaders would not get chance and that will

create political dissidence in the party,” said party sources.
