Train services between Mandi House and ITO metro stations were disrupted for several hours on Thursday morning causing inconvenience to a large number of people, including office-goers.
Operations between the two stations on the network’s Violet line came to a complete halt for over four hours. ITO is one of the terminal stations on the line that connects Faridabad to the national capital.
Metro authorities said the disruption was caused due to a train developing technical snag at the platform of Mandi House, the station that precedes ITO station.
“Train services at ITO Metro station of line-6 (Violet line) were disrupted on Thursday between 7.48 am and 11.40 am due to immobilisation of a terminating train at the platform of Mandi House Metro station,” a DMRC official said.
However, services between Mandi House station and Fariadabad’s Escorts Mujesar station were running normal during this period, the official said.
Regular trains services resumed from ITO station, the eponymous area which houses a number of Government and private establishments, around 12 pm after the immobilised train was removed from the section.
It must be noted that on the Mandi House-ITO stretch, only single-line operations are conducted. Since the malfunctioned metro train was moved to the only available track, metro operation had to be completely stopped on this stretch.
Sources said that after ITO-Kashmere Gate stretch is operationalised, which is expected by August 15, two tracks will be available for operation following which such a long disruption in services won’t be repeated.
