Considering the proposal of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to reduce the hefty conversion charges in its markets, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday issued a Gazette notification bringing down conversion charges. As per the notification, the conversion charges on upper residential floor on various markets such as Sarojini Nagar, Khan market, Green Park extension etc has been brought down to Rs 22,274 and the new rate will remain in force till June 30, 2018.
The decision came after a delegation led by SDMC Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat called on the Minister, requesting him to take an urgent action in resolving the sealing issue in the markets. "The delegation has requested him to find out a reasonable solution at the earliest possible manner keeping in view the hardships being faced by the traders," a senior SDMC official said.
