Hand over civic bodies’ work to Kejriwal, says AAP leader

AAP Chief Spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj on Friday appealed to the citizens of Delhi to hand over the responsibility of the municipal corporations to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to build a cleanliness model for Delhi like that of education and health implemented in the Capital by the AAP Government.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday lashed out at the BJP-led municipal corporations in Delhi over poor ranking in Swachh Survekshan 2020 announced by the Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs on Thursday.

Referring to the cleanliness survey in which SDMC ranked 31, North MCD 43 and EDMC was ranked 46, he said that the BJP-ruled MCDs had opened all the toilets for only one week to improve its rank in the survey.

Showing pictures of locked toilets of the SDMC, he said SDMC opened the closed toilets only in the wake of cleanliness survey but despite such fraudulent act they have performed so poorly in the survey.

“Most unfortunately, the EDMC is at the second last position in the cleanliness survey that means that the East district of Delhi is the dirtiest and this is very shameful for every citizen of Delhi," he said.

"We have seen that in the report the cities like Indore, Navi Mumbai, Surat have performed great but these cities have the same kind of population as Delhi. We all know that the BJP has made Delhi the capital of garbage and for the past 15 years, the situation has remained the same. Today on behalf of the AAP, I want to request the citizens of Delhi that in the upcoming MCD election give a chance to the party by bringing us in the power of MCDs," Bhardwaj said.

"The AAP government in Delhi has changed the education system and launched a revolution which has made the Delhi model of education a prime model across the world. Delhi schools have shown a 98 per cent result and across the world, people are discussing this model of education. The government also revolutionised the health model of Delhi,” he said.

“If the AAP voted to power in the upcoming municipal election, we will build up a cleanliness model for the national capital like the government has done to reform the education sector than the health sector," he said.
