A semi-naked body of a 50-year-old woman was found abandoned at a garbage dumping site in Bhalswa Dairy on Saturday night, police said on Sunday. They suspect that the victim was bludgeoned to death with stones and sticks. Police are trying to ascertain whether the woman — living in the neighbourhood and used to collect garbage — was also sexually assaulted.
Police have identified the deceased as Khalida, a resident of slum area near Murgh Farm in Bhalswa Dairy. The incident came to light when a passerby noticed the abandoned body of the woman and alerted police.
The body has been sent for conducting postmortem. A personal enmity may have led to the murder of the woman, said police. The police team is questioning the local in this regard.
