The Ghaziabad Police has failed to find any lead in the Rs25-lakh loot case, which occurred on Tuesday night under the Kotwali police station. Police have even been attempting to hide the case from the media glare. The case was registered late on Tuesday night. Officers did not respond to the phone calls by the media during the night.
But the case came to light on Wednesday morning when it was found registered in the Kotwali police station. Police said two employees of an iron merchant, Mahesh Gupta, were carrying the collection of the day. Three robbers on a motorcycle pushed them off their scooter and fled with the scooter in which the bag containing cash was kept. When the two employees tried to stop them, the robbers threatened them with a pistol, said police.
“We have, on several occasions, suggested traders not to carry huge amounts of cash. But the traders are taking police suggestions very lightly and allowing their junior staffers to carry cash. Without proper intelligence, no one could have dared to rob them at Chipyana crossing, which remains closed most of the time due to heavy traffic on Delhi-Kolkata railway track,” said city SP, Ajay Pal.The two employees are being questioned but till now, no conclusion has been drawn, added the city SP.
