Gurugram to have RERA office soon: CM Khattar

The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) is soon going to open an office in Gurugram. This was announced by the Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar lal Khattar during his recent visit to the city.

The Chief Minister said that RERA offices will be set up in Chandigarh, Gurugram and Panchkula.

“Many home buyers in Gurugram have protested against developers for delay of projects in the past but couldn’t get relief. So this decision will definitely benefit thousands of buyers in the city who have complained of delayed projects, not delivery and many other issues,” Rajiv Sinha, a home buyer, said.

As the city has a number of group housing societies and condominiums built by various developers, this announcement is set to bring in a great relief to the condominium buyers here.

The Rera Central Act was implemented across the country from May 1, 2017, and according to the act, builders, as well as property dealers had to register themselves with the Rera before July 31.

The Act aims at facilitating home buyers by bringing in transparency in the real estate sector and ensuring accountability so that ongoing projects are completed on time.

As of now, 22 developers have applied for registration under RERA in Haryana, of which 15 projects in Gurugram, five in Bahadurgarh and two in Sohna. In Gurugram only nine have been registered to carry out their business,” a senior officer of the town and country planning department, on condition of anonymity, said.

In the previous month, the State Government had issued show-cause notices to 10 developers for promoting their projects without getting registered under the Haryana Real Estate Regulation Act (H-RERA).

As per Section 3(1) of the Act, no promoter shall promote his project and also cannot sell or offer for sale or invite persons to purchase any plot or unit, without registering his project. If any real estate promoter violates the rules of the Act, he is liable to a penalty which may extend up to 10 per cent of the estimated cost of the real estate project as determined by the RERA.

According to the Industry and Government sources in Gurugram, new projects where work has recently started, mostly those launched last year, and old projects abandoned midway because of a developer facing a financial crunch, will come under the Act.
