Several measures and multiple awareness programmes conducted by the Health Department have not shown any positive results as the cases of dengue, chikungunya, swine flu and malaria have increased in the district.

This year, there have been 30 cases of suspected swine flu of which two have been confirmed, 31 confirmed cases of dengue while 173 were suspected. There were also 250 cases of suspected malaria of which 25 cases were confirmed. A total of 15 confirmed cases of chikungunya and 12 suspected cases have already been reported in the city this year so far.

last year, the Health Department had confirmed 38 cases of dengue, 45 malaria cases and 15 cases of chikungunya.

Patients, who were diagnosed with dengue or chikungunya and malaria, complained of high fever, sweating, headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, muscle pain and traces of blood in their stool.

“We have organised medical camps in the high-risk area of the city and remote areas also the medical representatives encourage people not to avoid these vector borne deceases. Our volunteer’s regularly encouraging people to take proper medical care to keep away from these decreases.

“We are keeping a vigil eye on lab technicians, ambulances and other logistics, who are to be positioned in primary health centres and community health centres,” said BK Rajora, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), civil hospital.

Meanwhile, doctors feel that there is a need to increase the number of beds in Civil Hospital, as the number of patients is expected to rise in the coming weeks.

“Patients coming from far-off places also ask for admission. It, therefore, makes sense to increase bed capacity,” said a doctor at Civil Hospital, requesting anonymity.

The Health Department has already mapped out several areas from where suspected cases of dengue have reported and they are conducting fogging in those areas.

Moreover, dengue and malaria cases have been reported from Wazirabad, Sohna, Pataudi, Farrukhnagar, Gurugram Gaon and Sector-7, 55/56, chikungunya cases are coming up from many areas including Palam Vihar, Sectors 4, 9, 10, 50, 51, 53, Sushant lok 1 and 3, and DlF Phase 3.

“We are taking precautionary measures as we are witnessing a huge number of patients with dengue and chikungunya, malaria and swine flu-like symptoms. We are encouraged the people get tested even if they have a normal fever. Also, the confirmed two cases of the swine flu are doing well and still in doctors observation,” the CMO said.
