Grappling with the manpower shortage, Gurugram police is all set to get around 1,540 new recruits who passed out recently from the Haryana Police Recruit Training Centre (RTC) at Sunaria. The addition of 1,540 police personnel is expected to boost the strength of the district police and the force will be able to police the city and its adjoining areas.
“This would augment the strength of the police in the city, as more manpower would be available for crime prevention and detection apart from strengthening the traffic police. Besides, the State Government has also approved 10 more police stations for the city,” said a senior police officer.
Earlier the Haryana Government had announced plans to build more police stations in the district but it was pending due to financial issues.
With the induction of these personnel, the strength of Gurugram Police would go up to 5,470 against the current strength of the force is 3,870, the official added.
To tackle the spiraling crime, traffic issues on city roads, the department has been demanding the State Government that the manpower is increased.
“The new recruits will join the force in the coming month. With their induction, our department will become more effective. It will certainly help us manage crime and traffic better,” DCP, Headquarters, Simarjit Singh said.
However, it was not clear as how many Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables are being inducted in Gurugram Police. It will be clear once we get the strengthlist from the head office, the DCP said.
Meanwhile, according to the notification of the Haryana Government, the new police stations would be set up in New Colony, Shivaji Nagar, Sector-14, Sector-9A, Bajghera, Sector -50, Sector-53, City Sohna, Industrial Model Township (IMT) Sector-7 Manesar and Sector-37.
