The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will develop their own water quality and material checking lab at Sector-39. The corporation has prepared a proposal for the project and it is expected to cost around Rs 10 lakh. The building in which the lab will be installed has been built.
“The lab completion work will be completed within one year. Our special team of engineers will work in the laboratory,” senior MCG town planner, Sudhir Chauhan said. After the development of this lab, the MCG will have their own team who will collect water samples across the district and test those in their lab.
Earlier the Public health department (PWD) had to check water quality across the district now the corporation will check their own. “We will install nearly 12 machines and with the help of these machines will test the quality of water and material.
“Apart from this anyone can check water quality of their area in the lab. To avail the lab services for water quality checking in their areas they just have to pay nominal charges to the MCG,” Chauhan said. The MCG has its own water treatment plant located at village Basai and it supplies water to households in the city, he added.
The corporation has received a couple of complaints which is related to the water supply quality. “We have noticed that we received lots of issues related to the water quality problem, especially from the corporation areas.
“So we have to set up water quality testing laboratories for testing quality of drinking water sources periodically,” an official within the administration said.
“We have submitted several complaints to the administration regarding the poor quality of the water at Patel Nagar area. Sometimes we received savage water in our areas. The corporation should improve their quality of water in the areas. After the development of lab we hope will get fresh water,” a resident said.
