Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta inaugurated the first ‘rainwater harvesting park’ at Dwarka with an aim to collect and store water and channelise it back into the shallow aquifer systems to replenish groundwater tables.

The park spread over 2.46 acres of land was taken over from Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in 2016. The Pond has been rejuvenated by installation of STP (50 KLD) in the adjoining park located near Queen Valley Public School.

A senior BJP official said that the campaign will have special focus on utilising open spaces especially parks for harvesting rainwater for ground water recharge.

Besides this, garden hut and walking track have also been constructed and large numbers of trees have been planted at the park premises, he said.

Member of Parliament from South Delhi Lok Sabha Ramesh Bidhuri, Mayor Mukesh Suryan and Delhi BJP president Adesh Kumar Gupta also inaugurated SDMC's first Centralised Kitchen in Dwarka.

On the occasion, SDMC Mayor said that the centralised kitchen was constructed in a record period of nine months and the civic agency has incurred a total of Rs 1.45 crore on the entire project.

As far as facilities are concerned, a large-size hall with separate rooms to wash utensils, prepare food and to pack prepared food has been constructed, he said, adding that the kitchens are being constructed separately in all four zones so the students of the SDMC schools could provide healthy and nutritious food.
