A 30-year-old security guard was found stabbed to death in the office premises of the Indra Prakash building on Barakhamba Road in New Delhi, police said on Sunday.
The guard was stabbed with a sharp-edged object such as a screwdriver, said a police official. Police have ruled out theft as the motive as no documents or valuables were reported missing from the premises. And they suspect personal enmity as the possible reason.
Police said the incident came to light after they were informed at around 10 am on Sunday by a staff member of the Ansal Housing company that the main gate of the office was locked from inside and there was no response to knocks on the door.
The Barakhamba police forced open the door and found the body of the security guard, Jitender Shukla, lying under the table, on the floor. Shukla was a security guard with the Ansal Housing office located at the Indra Prakash building. He used to work in night shift from 8 in the evening till 8 the next morning.
His body has been sent for post-mortem examination at the Ram Manohar lohia hospital.
Meanwhile, the police are scanning the CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the office to get any leads.
“In preliminary investigation we found that the main door of the office was locked from inside and a window was open. We suspect that the culprit escaped through the window. Further investigation is underway,” they said.
