Grievance redressal a call away in GK

The MlAs of the Aam Aadmi Party have devised a new way to address the grievances of people. For the first time, each constituency will have a specific helpline number where residents can lodge their complaints. To kick start the system, MlA from Greater Kailash and Transport Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj has introduced a special number for the people of his constituency.

Residents of GK were the first to have the number (8588833450) which was recently launched. Flooded by complaints right from day one, workers under Bhardwaj on Wednesday introduced two more numbers. "People have a lot of expectations from the party and it is not possible for the MlA to meet the public every time. With the helpline number, residents can register their grievances sitting at home. A team has been appointed to track the problems being recorded in every constituency," said a party member. Following the trend, other MlAs of the Rookie party have also decided to set up similar helpline numbers.

The move was welcomed by residents of GK. "This is the first time that we are seeing such a move from an MlA. Knowing the fact that Bhardwaj is a Minister and mostly works from Delhi Secretariat, he has not been accessible for quite a while. So the helpline number comes as a saviour for many of us," said Sanjay Sood, a resident of GK-I Enclave.

Meanwhile, there were many who had no idea about this facility. "I have no idea about such a service. We have not been communicated about any helpline number so far. If there is any such provision it must be made public through local advertisements," said RK Sharma, a resident of GK-1.

The task has not been an easy ride for the operators sitting in GK. "The number is just for GK people. But people from Assam and Tamil Nadu are also calling us. We are devising some means to restrict it only to the constituency concerned," informed a party worker.
