In order to provide a direct and hassle-free connectivity between Greater Noida and the National capital, Noida authority has decided to construct an elevated road between Chilla regulator (New Delhi) and Noida- Greater Noida Express highway. The construction of the road will commence after Delhi Government gives a nod. The 5.5 km elevated road will be a six lane stretch and the Noida Authority will bear the entire cost of the project. It is expected that over1.5 lakh motorists would use this road.
An announcement was made on Wednesday during a meeting of Noida authority officials. The authority has appointed a Delhi-based consultant to prepare a feasibility report of the project and submit it within the next two-three months. The feasibility report will then be sent to the Delhi Government.
An official who was part of the meeting said that project is most likely to be completed in the next three years. The proposed elevated road, staring from Chilla regulator, will connect Sector 15A, Film city, Sector 18, Kalindi Kunj bridge and Mahamaya flyover in Noida city before merging at the Express highway.
"With the ever increasing traffic volume, the need of the hour is to ease pressure from the roads of the city. With the completion of the project, a large volume of vehicles will reach Greater Noida and Delhi without using the roads of the city. It will also be beneficial for the residents as it would connect four key places in the city," said AK Goel, Chief Maintenance Officer, Noida Authority.
The entire carriageway will be signal free and will reduce pressure of vehicles on Mahamaya flyover as the bottleneck near the flyover always led a traffic jam. The commuters coming from DND flyway and going towards Greater Noida would be able to use this road as it would connect to the flyway near Film city.
The entire carriageway between Noida gate and Express highway measures traffic snarls at various points during the peak hours.
Its cascading effect paralyses traffic passing through Mahamaya flyover, Film city and Noida gate as the traffic of other roads converges at these places.
