'Great chance for India to be manufacturing hub'

Higher wages in China gives the golden opportunity to India to turn up into best manufacturing hub at an international level,” said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, while addressing the students of Delhi University’s Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) on 89th Annual Day celebration here on Friday. “China is growing faster and wages too. And hence, it is turning costlier. Therefore, we can take the advantage of changing India into world class infrastructural and manufac-turing centre,” said Jaitley.

The ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government helps in increasing the manufacturing, he said, adding that presently India’s GDP in manufacturing is less than other countries. We are rich in human resource and best institutions, which helps to make the capital cost reasonable. Jaitley talked about former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a Bharat Ratna awardee and said, “He is a stalwart, a very tall leader of the country. From being a strong political leader, to best orator, poet and thinker, Vajpayee has made the country proud.” We all should pray for his good health, the Finance Minister added.

Alumni of SRCC, Jaitley, appreciated the staff, faculty and the makeover of the college during the years and said that SRCC is the No.1 College in the field of commerce in training the students at its best. “It is the great opportunity for all the students, that our Finance Minister is interacting on economic issues of the country and telling the students how can we apply our educational knowledge to make India a manufacturing hub at global level,” said Pooja Aggarwal, a second year B.Com student.
