When you take that drive, keep an eye on your ride: Capital dominates list with more vehicles filched than mobile phones!

Delhi seems to have become a haven for auto-lifters with three vehicles being stolen every hour in the national Capital. On an average, three vehicles are lifted in different parts of Delhi every one hour.

However, the data provided by the Delhi Police says, only one mobile phone was stolen during the period.

The data — recorded between January 1 and June 20 this year — shows that while 13,976 vehicles have been stolen in the Capital, the number of stolen mobile phones was reduced to 5,590.

Shakarpur, Mayur Vihar and Anand Vihar in East Delhi have topped the charts with 2,110 cases of vehicle theft, including cars, bikes and other motor vehicles.

East Delhi is followed by North-East division with 1,913 cases, 1,667 in South-East and 1,290 in South Delhi while New Delhi district — with VIP areas like Parliament Street, Tughlak Road, Raisina Road and Connaught Place — has recorded the lowest number of vehicle theft cases at 133.

Interestingly, East Delhi district stands at the last position in terms of cases of stolen mobile phones with a number of 390, while South-East Delhi topped the chart with 2,091 cases.

Other areas where vehicle theft has been rampant include — Central district (699 cases), North district (657 cases) and Outer district (1,477 cases) in a span of 201 days.

Meanwhile, the number of mobile phone theft stands at two in South Delhi, 284 in New Delhi and 2,091 South-West Delhi, according to police data.
