Taking cognisance on air pollution in Delhi, the Government of National Capital Territory (NCT) has appealed to the Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) and individual house owners to provide electric heaters during winter to security guards and ensure that they do not burn wood and dry leaves in open to beat the cold during night duty.
“Presidents and General Secretaries of All Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Individual House owners in Delhi asked to lend a hand in controlling air pollution,” Delhi Government mentioned in its official release.
The Environment Minister Imran Hussain on Tuesday convened a meeting of senior officers of Environment Department and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to review action taken for implementation of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for air quality. “Directions have also been issued for prohibition of burning of dry leaves , garbage , plastic, rubber and other waste materials in Delhi and for imposing Environmental Compensation on the violators, “ the Minister said during the meeting with DPCC officials.
Hussain also said that necessary directions may be issued in the form of a Public Notice to the RWAs and individual house owners for providing electric heaters during the winter months to the security staff so as to discourage them for burning waste material, dried leaves, wood etc. in open for keeping themselves warm.
“land owning agencies and municipal corporations have been tasked to take necessary action for compliance of on the above by All Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and individual house owners,” the Environment Minister said.
