Govt seeks MHA's advice on l-G warning its officials
Published on:

Following lieutenant Governor’s office note directing all officers not to follow illegal orders by the Delhi Government pertaining to hike of pay scale to

DANICS and all enquires, the Delhi Cabinet has

decided to defer the implementation of the grant of grade pay and time-bound grant of scales for DANICS officers till the Union Ministry of Home Affairs ratifies the decision.

The Cabinet also decided to request the MHA to take a final decision soon on DANICS officers’ salary revision since it has been pending for more than a decade.

On the issue of the Commission of Inquiry to probe the CNG fitness scam, the Cabinet noted that this matter is already pending before the Delhi High Court and all concerned parties must respect the court of law.

Also, the Cabinet has decided to seek the advice of MHA that under which law lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung issued instructions directly to officers of Delhi Government and under which rule the l-G can issue instructions to an elected Government.

It is noted that the l-G office has conveyed the MHA order dated September 16 to chief secretary of Delhi and all HoDs and Secretary for implementation of the order.

The Ministry has directed DANICS officers not to withdraw increased salary and if they have withdrawn then they should return it. The Ministry further advised officials not to follow illegal orders given by the Delhi Government.

Insiders say that only centre has power to hike salary of DANICS and the Delhi Government has no power in this regard.
