The Delhi Government has announced that it would guarantee college admissions and startup incubations for the successful students from Business Blasters. The Delhi Government will be supporting these students in their entrepreneurial endeavours ahead. Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, Manish Sisodia took to social media to announce this decision.
Sisodia on Friday announced that the Delhi government will give direct admission to students of class 12 from top 126 Business Blasters team in the State Universities.
The Delhi government's Business Blaster programme is a school start-up initiative being implemented in Delhi government schools. Under this program students of Class 11 and 12 are given seed money of Rs 2000 to set up their businesses and are provided with mentorship from well-known entrepreneurs and experts in the field.
The Directorate of Education had received over 50,000 ideas from around three lakh students, of those only 126 best business ideas made into the finals. The students of Class-12 from these 126 teams are being given an opportunity to get direct admission in some of Delhi's top universities, which include NSUT, DTU, IGDTUW, DSEU, DPSRU, Ambedkar and IIIT-D.
In the orientation session conducted on Friday Sisodia said, "This is for the first time in the history of India that we have more than 400 students sitting in the auditorium and VCs of top state universities are directly connecting with them. This never happens in IITs, IIMs, Harvard or MIT but it is happening in Delhi".
Sisodia further added that from here onwards the journey of these Business Blasters is very important as whatever step they will take would affect the country's economy.
Keeping in mind the rising rate of unemployment and decreasing per-capita income, they need to work on improving the economic conditions of the country. They should become job-providers to the crores of people who are unemployed in the nation.
"This team of 400 students is very important for me because I see them as a solution provider for the unemployment and underemployment problem of 39 crore people of India. I need students who can provide jobs to lakhs of people by creating companies like Google, Microsoft in India. We have to resolve all our problems through education by taking the path of entrepreneurship" Sisodia added
Speaking about the courses being offered by universities, Sisodia said that these students are being offered admission in nearly 40 courses such as BBA in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development, BBA in healthcare, B.A in digital media and design, B.Sc data analytics, BCA etc.
For most courses the eligibility criterion is basic requiring about 50% marks in class 12th. There are specific added eligibility for a few technical courses, such as science stream requirement for BBA healthcare course at DPSRU.
