Senior Congress leader and ex-MLA Hari Shankar Gupta said Delhi Excise Minister Manish Sisodia was trying to pass on the blame for his lapses on former Lt Governor Anil Baijal, instead of admitting his own mistakes.
Addressing a Press conference, the Congress leader said the Delhi Government finally admitted the fact that the new liquor policy was bad for Delhiites, and therefore, decided to revert to the old policy, by bringing back Delhi government departments into the liquor retail business from September 1, 2022 by keeping out the private players, who were having a free run.
Gupta claimed that this was a victory for Delhi Congress, which had organized several agitations, dharnas, gheraoes and door-to-door campaigns against the liquor policy from the very beginning. The Congress leader demanded that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should have clarified to the media about the lapses behind the new liquor policy, which the Government was forced to rescind after Lt Governor VK Saxena ordered a CBI probe.
