Govt, Delhi Police tug-of-war escalates

The tussle between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejrwial and the Delhi Police has reached at the point of no return with the AAP Government started targeting Delhi police officials, including inspectors.  While the Delhi Government’s vigilance department issued an order to repatriate seven inspectors, who were inducted in the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), to the Delhi Police, the ACB head and Joint Commissioner of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena has refused to follow the order citing that it was “illegal”.

Meena, who was appointed by lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung as ACB and is already facing flak from Kejriwal, has clearly stated on Wednesday that all the seven inspectors will work in ACB and the order of the vigilance department has no significance as it has not been approved by the l-G.

The inspectors who have been repatriated by vigilance department are Brij Mohan, Kumar Kant Mishra, Vivekanand Jha, Raj Kumar, Rajendra Prasad, Ricchpal Singh Meena and Puran Chand.

Interestingly, the Delhi Government had earlier requested the Delhi Police to provide officials for ACB, now it wants three of them to be surrendered.
