Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday announced that the Delhi Government has decided to declare a public holiday on 25 November 2025 (Tuesday) to mark the sacred occasion of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.

Announcing this in a post on X, the Chief Minister said Guru Sahib’s timeless message of courage, compassion, and freedom of faith continues to guide and inspire people. She added that the public holiday is not a mere formality but a heartfelt tribute from the Delhi Government to Guru Sahib’s extraordinary sacrifice. The Chief Minister appealed to all citizens to observe this day with reverence, unity and a spirit of service, and to imbibe Guru Sahib’s teachings in their daily lives.

“The holiday will offer citizens an opportunity to pay homage to Guru Sahib’s unparalleled sacrifice, his spiritual guidance, and his unwavering commitment to the protection of humanity,” she said.

The chief minister earlier invited people from across Delhi and the country to participate in the grand three-day commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, to be held at the Red Fort from November 23 to 25. The show will use tech-based visual effects and narrative storytelling to depict Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life, philosophy, and ultimate sacrifice.

A temporary museum will also be made operational on November 19, which will showcase key moments from the ninth Sikh Guru’s life. One of the front lawns will have a large tent area set up for temporary accommodation of devotees from November 23 to 25, where kirtan darbar will be held. There will also be a 24x7 langar, and people can sleep at the tented accommodation, which will have hot water, cold water and other basic arrangements.
