A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter in South-east Delhi’s Govindpuri on Tuesday.
According to a senior police official, the victim had complained to her school teacher on Tuesday morning after which the teacher approached the authorities.
The police official said the father was allegedly sexually assaulting his daughter for the past three years.
“The accused works as a tailor in Govindpuri and his wife works in a private firm. Since the daughter was threatened by her father to not tell her mother about anything, she was scared and kept the matter to herself. On Tuesday, she could not take it anymore and confessed to her teacher about her father’s heinous act,” said the police official.
The teacher had taken the victim with her to the Govindpuri police station and based on her complaint a case was registered against the father and he was arrested immediately. “We have arrested the victim’s father after a case was registered against him under section 376 (punishment for rape), POCSO act and 506(criminal intimidation) at the Govindpuri police station. Further investigation is on,” said the police official.
