Goel urges l-G to review DDA's flat allotment policy

Published on:

Union Minister Vijay Goel on Friday requested l-G Anil Baijal to review Delhi Development Authority (DDA)’s flat allotment policy and also implored to provide reservation to Delhiites in the allotment of flat at the earliest. Goel said as per the extant allotment policy, DDA flats are offered on a national basis without considering the requirements of Delhiites who are already living here. “The flats should be offered to the persons who have been staying in Delhi for at least a period of 3 years and the persons who are working here. In case it is found difficult to implement it in full, 20 per cent may be offered to the people from outside,” he said.

“Flats of private builders are unaffordable for middle class and poor income groups hence DDA flats are the only option left for the Delhiites to fulfill the dream of owning flats. Due to non-allotment of flats, gross injustice is being done especially to those who leave their native place, to live in clusters and JJ colonies in Delhi,” he said.
