To mark birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a programme to adopt talented youths from slums was started whereby the Member of Parliament from Bhartiya Janta Party and Minister of State Vijay Goel adopted 1,000 youths from slums for their upliftment and skill development.
In a function organised at Malvankar Hall, Constitution club in Delhi, Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Prakash Javadekar. The event also saw the presence of noted BJP officials and youth from different slums.
Speaking on the occasion, Goel hitting on AAP led Delhi government said it is the responsibility of Delhi Government to come up with welfare programs and uplift slum youth that stops them from getting involved in drugs and criminal activities.
“Unfortunately, the state government has turned a blind eye. Youth from slums are immensely skilled, but due to lack of resources, their talent is not fully recognized. Their parents are hardly making ends meet to survive; they have no money to invest in their youth to polish their skills. To horn such talents, youth from slums would be adopted through this program,” said Goel.
On the occasion, Union Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal offered a free train ride to the selected youth from Delhi to Agra. Union Minister of Education Prakash Javadekar said that talent is not born looking at the house or city.
Javedkar said that many people coming out of small towns and cities are making India immensely proud through their extra ordinary skills.
