Demanding that the Group Housing Societies should be provided all civic facilities within their complexes as are being provided in DDA SFS Flats, apartments and colonies in the capital, leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta handed over a memorandum to the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday. Gupta said that though the residents of these societies are paying all Government taxes yet no Government agency is spending any fund towards internal civic facilities in these societies.
Gupta demanded that MlAs should be empowered to spend “MlA Fund” in CGHS Societies. “The assistance from the Government would provide them much needed relief if they are provided civic facilities like concrete roads, street lighting, sewerage, sanitation and cleanliness, drainage system, maintenance of parks,” he said.
He asked the CM to sympathetically look into the demand of residents of Group Housing Societies to treat them at par DDA SFS Flats, Central Government, State Government Housing Complexes for Government employees and apartments and other areas of Delhi.
“About 25 lakhs residents live in these societies. Majority of the Household heads are retired from service and belong to nuclear families. They cannot afford to contribute development needs and requirements of society. The office-bearers are always under financial constraint to maintain and provide the bare minimum civic services. Major expenditure incurred on account of maintenance of security which is also essential. Hardly, any funds are left for internal civic services,” Gupta added.
