In a major development, the Delhi Police on Thursday arrested a 19-year-old girl from a PG hostel in Gurgaon in connection with the murder of Vipin Chaudhary the prime eyewitness to the murder of Najafgarh’s former MlA Bharat Singh.
The girl was used as a bait to trap Vipin, said police, adding that the conspirators wanted to eliminate the eyewitness and they succeeded in their gameplan.
Alisha, who worked as a tailor, had got in touch with Vipin through a social media platform a month ago and Vipin met her twice prior to the day of the incident, said DCP (outer) Vikramjit Singh.
During the interrogation, the girl told police that her friend Aditya Shokeen had asked her to befriend Vipin in October.
On December 8 she informed Shokeen around 5 pm that she would be meeting Vipin at Japanese Park, said police.
It is alleged that the suspects Hemant, his cousin Shokeen and their accomplices, were already waiting for Vipin and killed him as soon as he reached the spot, said the DCP.
The role of the girl was only to entrap Vipin and to bring him to outer Delhi’s Rithala on Tuesday night, leaving behind his security that police had provided him two months back, he said.
The security was given to Vipin after he was attacked at his residence, sources said.
A case was registered at Baba Haridas Nagar police station.
