Ghaziabad civic body leader raises rampant encroachment issue

Published on:

The leader of House in Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajendra Tyagi has raised concerns over ramapant grabbing of public land and criminal apathy of the concerned officials.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar, Tyagi has mentioned how Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC), Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation have turned a blind eye to the growing problem of  grabbing of public land on a massive scale.  There is an urgent need to launch a drive  to evacuate encroachers from the public land, the BJP leader said.

Tyagi has submitted that these departments should be made accountable responsible for encroachment and grabbing of public land.  He suggested that a mobile court equipped with a truck, crane, and police force be established in the rapidly growing towns of  National Capital Region (NCR). This mobile court should take round of the city on daily basis and disposed off disputes on the spot and remove all the encroachments on foot paths.

“ Since there is no Transport Nagar in the city, all major roads are encroached upon by private buses during night time. The GDA be instructed to establish  Transport Nagar in Ghaziabad city instead of proposed elevated road on the  GT road from Ghanta Ghar to Bhatia Mor which will prove to be a sheer wastage of public money in about hundreds of crores”, Tyagi wrote in his letter.

Corridors in all the commercial markets of GDA have been encroached by the local shop keepers.  This has been going on as the government agencies are least concerned.  The mobile courts should be enforced in the city without any further delay.  All the local bus terminals should  have  two wheelers, car and cycle stands so that the motorists are not forced to park their vehicles on road, Tyagi said.

“Similarly, trees should be planted on all major roads but not in city lanes as that pave way for encroachment.  The construction material should not be allowed to be dumped on the roads at construction site which pollute the air”, he said.
