Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday taunted lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung to act against one of his Ministers for his Government’s new Solar Policy.
“The Delhi Government has announced a Solar Policy. I request you to tell the ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) to file an FIR,” Kejriwal said in a letter to Jung.
He said the policy had been widely lauded by Resident Welfare Associations and Greenpeace. “The (solar) policy is being discussed throughout the world. Greenpeace has praised it. Even UN climate change has termed it as a big step. Please conduct a CBI raid on Delhi Power Minister Satyender Jain by telling Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Kejriwal wrote.
Delhi’s Solar Policy makes installation of solar panels on Government-owned, commercial and residential buildings mandatory. Delhi aims to achieve 1 GW of solar power by 2020 and 2 GW by 2025, catering to 21 per cent of peak load demand.
On civic body official MM Khan’s murder, Kejriwal accused the l-G of “saving” BJP MP Maheish Girri and NDMC Vice Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar in the case.
“Modiji is now confident that no harm will come to any BJP person despite whatever goondaism they indulge in. You will protect them. And you will keep trapping AAP members by hoisting false cases,” he added.
This comes a day after the AAP chief wrote to the lieutenant Governor another letter wherein he had remarked that Modi will never make Jung the Vice-President of India.
When contacted, Giri said if Kejriwal has the courage, he should prove the allegations. “If he manages to prove, then I will quit politics, otherwise he should do so. I have absolutely no connection with the case. It just happened that I was in the l-G office when a person had come with some documents related to the case. I did not bring that complainant. These are diversionary tactics by Kejriwal to deflect attention from the parliamentary secretary issue,” Giri said.
