A four-year-old girl was injured after a German Shepherd bit her near her house in East Delhi's Jagatpuri area. Police said that the incident took place on Friday evening when Yashasvi Bhatia was playing with her siblings outside her house.
Police said that when the parents of the girl went over to complain to the dog owner, a former Congress leader, his son and their relatives thrashed them.
The German shepherd belongs to local Congress leader Chaudhary Prem Singh. Family members of the minor girl claimed that it is not the first time that the pet dog of the leader has attacked them. “In the past three months, the dog has bitten two members of our family,” said a police officer, quoting the written complaint.
Police said that Chaudhary Prem Singh lives in the Jagatpuri area with his family. Next to them stays Anil Bhatia and his family. The former Congress leader owns a pet dog.
“As per the locals in the area, the dog often attacks them. The locals have approached the leader but in vain. On Friday evening, the dog bit the four year old girl. When her family members went on to complain to the leader, they were met by his son Raman who rebuked them,” added the officer.
As per the complaint, Raman along with two of his relatives thrashed Anil Bhatia and his relatives. The incident was reported to the police after which the police registered a case against the leader's son and his relatives at the Jagatpuri police station.
