Investigation into the sensational murder of a financier in Geeta Colony led the police to the three accused, two of whom were contract killers. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Dilshad (27), Farukh Mazahar (24) and Bilal Tansir (25).

On October 23 last year, police received information that a group of four people opened fire at one Vinod Sharma, a financier, at his office in Geeta colony area. He was rushed to the Max Hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.

“During initial investigation, local police learnt that one Akash, an associate of Vinod, had hired contract killers through one Dilshad. Based on the investigation, Akash and shooters Mohd Kamil, Mohd Nazim and Mohd Kamar were arrested in the case,” said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

A senior police officer said, “To execute their plan, the killers were asked to reach Delhi two days before the D-day. Akash had arranged lodge and food for the killers. The killers had even recced the area where Vinod’s office was located. On the day Vinod was shot dead, the killers received information from Akash that Vinod is in office.”

The accused had fired nearly 15 rounds at Vinod and escaped. The killers, Farukh Mazhar and Bilal Tanseer disclosed that they threw away the pistols which were later recovered by the police.

The case was later handed over to the Crime Branch. On January 6, once the Crime Branch took over the case, a team was formed under ACP Anand Kumar Mishra.

During the course of interrogation, sleuths of Crime Branch found that Dilshad was the main conduit between conspirator Akash and the shooters including Farukh Mazhar and Bilal Tanseer, who along with others executed the murder of Vinod Sharma.

Since all the accused were in judicial custody, the crime branch officials analysed the call detail records of the accused, which led police to the suspect Dilshad, who had visited Dasna jail several times. After perusing the jail records, it was revealed that Dilshad met one Waseem several times.

“Police tracked the movements of the associates of Waseem and found that Dilshad was a body builder and worked as a body guard of Akash. This further led to the identification of the shooters, Farukh and Bilal Tansir. On February 2, Dilsahd, Farukh and Bilal Tansir were arrested from Surajmal Park,” said Yadav.

During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that Akash was a financer and used to lend money on a high rate of interest and Dilshad is a body builder who used to escort Akash everywhere in order to extort money from the borrowers, who had failed to repay money on time. Vinod Sharma was a partner of Akash and they shared the same office.

later, some differences cropped between them over money. Enraged about not being paid Rs 50 lakh which Akash had given to Vinod, he asked Dilshad to arrange for men to eliminate Vinod. So, Dilshad appraoched Waseem but Waseem was in Dasna Jail. So Dilshad met Mazhar and others and hatched a conspiracy to kill Vinod Sharma.
