He was shot thrice and reportedly died on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Janakraj, the father of notorious gangster Mogali, who is already lodged in Tihar Jail on the charges of killing four members of Naveen Khati gang in the same area in 2014.

Joint Commissioner of Police (South Western Range) Dependra Pathak said, “Identity of the assailants can’t be disclosed taking cognisance of the investigation being carried by the police teams to track them down.” Police have registered a case of murder at Jaffarpur Kalan police station and investigation is on, he added.

While confirming the murder to be fallout of rivalry between two gangs Naveen Khati and Ravindra Bholu, the Joint CP said, “Janakraj was killed by four assailants who belonged to Naveen Khati gang..”

According to police officials, Janakraj’s murder was revenge for the murder of Khati’s brother in 2014. Khati, who is also lodged in Tihar Jail, has his some associates out who allegedly have plotted the murder.

Khati was involved in the murder attempt on then Nazafgarh MlA Bharat Singh, younger brother of Kishan Pehalwan. Pehalwan gang’s rivalry with Narendra Balraj gang had gobbled up scores of lives during last two decades.

Police apprehended that Janakraj’s killing may ignite the gang war as Mogali would not like to pass off peacefully.
