'Furnish details of officers on deputation by Sept 5'

Following the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)’s letter seeking details of officials on deputation, lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday directed the Delhi Government’s service department to furnish the information sought by the MHA latest by September 5.

The lieutenant-Governor also directed the Government’s services wing to also submit details about consultants who have been employed on contract basis.

In a communication to the Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and Head of Departments, Deputy Secretary (Services) Mukesh Kumar Sharma said, “The information sought by Ministry of Home Affairs is to be provided to the lG Secretariat latest by September 5, 2016.”

“It is, therefore, requested to submit the said requisite information to this office latest by 12 noon of September 5 so that same may be provided to the lieutenant-Governor Secretariat for onward transmission to the Ministry well in time,” the communication said.

The department has also forwarded a performa to this effect.

Earlier, objecting to the MHA move, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked for the details about the consultants appointed by the Centre in last two years. In his letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Kejriwal claimed that he had consulted constitutional experts who said that the Centre has no right to seek the said information as per the law and Constitution.

Kejriwal had also asked whether such details of officers had been sought from Chief Ministers of other States, including Shivraj Singh Chauhan, N Chandrababu Naidu, Vasundra Raje, Devendra Fadnavis.

The Chief Minister had written letter after the Home Minister in May had asked the AAP Government to provide information related to officers who had been posted on deputation against cadre posts of IAS.
