A 35-year-old fruit seller died while another person is battling for his life after a vehicle hit them near Sector 9 of Dwarka late on Sunday night. Police have found a logo of Mercedes car from the crime spot.
The deceased has been identified as Sarvesh and the injured as Inder. They were returning with their cars from a local weekly market when the mishap happened at Ganpati Chowk in Dwarka's Sector 9. Police were informed by one of the passersby who was crossing the area as he noticed two men lying on road.
"A police control room (PCR) call was received regarding the incident at around 11:54 pm on Sunday following which a team rushed to the spot. The duo were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where Sarvesh was declared brought dead while Inder, who suffered critical injuries, is still undergoing treatment," said a senior police official.
"A case under section 279,337,304A of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Dwarka south police station. The CCTV footage of the area is being scanned to identify the car and the accused," said the senior police official.
"The offending vehicle remains still unknown though we suspect a Mercedes car is involved. The logo of a Mercedes car was found at the spot which could not confirm the make and model of the vehicle. We suspect it to be involved in the hit-and-run incident. There are no eye witnesses so far. Relatives of the deceased and injured have been informed," said the police official investigating the case.
